W Logo Weathervane – Westboro High school

The Westboro High School Logo & Arrow design.
The design is transferred from the drawing right onto the copper. Each side is skillfully cut out by hand.
Once all the parts are cut out, They are assembled with precision and soldered together.
The assembled W is compared to the full size design.
The arrow, bearing & spindle tube are inserted into the W and soldered in place.
Cleaning the seams and prepping for the finish.
The weathervane is chemically and mechanically cleaned and the W logo is primed with special primer for copper.
With the primer sufficiently cured, the first color, Brilliant Blue, is added to the sides of the W.
Two coats of the Kool Crimson have been added.
The white border really makes the letter pop. 2 coats of white then the entire W is getting 2 coats of clear coat.

Tyler is David’s apprentice. While Tyler may just be starting his journey, his work does not show it. His work is exceptional for an apprentice and the prospects for his future are bright.
