The running Corgi design created by Dave Ferro and Joan Differding, based on her dog ‘Panda’.
Putting the design onto the copper sheet.
The two main halves of the body have been cut out and Jon has started the texturing process.
The basic texture and body is simultaneous formed.
Once the texture is right, the body is formed to the correct shape.
Part of getting the shape of the body right, is making sure the legs will mortise to the body correctly.
The two halves of the main body have been soldered together and the tinning process has started.
Jon is now detailing the legs.
The body and legs are assembled and the details are tinned.
“”Panda” went up on the roof today! Poignant for us, since our beloved real Panda passed away last month. He’s buried next to the barn, so the weathervane flies above him. It looks so good! Thank you!”
Jon is one of the world’s up and coming weathervane sculptors. His pieces are solid, beautiful examples of a traditional trade. His work often goes home with him as chasing has become a hobby for him. Jon usually handles the larger and more complex pieces.
