Dave Ferro designed this hybrid design based on Pontiac logos of the 1930s – 50s.
The 2 main sides are cut out then the contours are fleshed out in the copper.
John has done an excellent job of capturing the look of the old logos.
The head is soldered together and the other elements are being shaped.
The speed fins are added. The faceted glass buttons are from automotive brake lights of the same era as the logo.
A perfect hoop.
Finishing the assembly.
The figure has been cleaned, received it’s bronze finish, and has been prepped for gold leaf.
A truly cool looking weathervane design!
Jon is one of the world’s up and coming weathervane sculptors. His pieces are solid, beautiful examples of a traditional trade. His work often goes home with him as chasing has become a hobby for him. Jon usually handles the larger and more complex pieces.
