Mayflower Weathervane Replica – Lewinstein Restoration

Mayflower replica for a Newport RI mansion whose weathervane was stolen around 1963. The images are of the original weathervane.
Copper is hand hammered into our half hull mold of the Mayflower hull.
Once the 2 halves of the hull are formed they are soldered together to form the initial hull shape.
The 1/8″ thick wall bearing bronze spindle tune with welded 2″ hardened wear-resistant alloy ball bearing.
Jon is attaching the upper deck and lower masts.

Now for the rigging!
The sails have been hand sculpted and added to the ship and the tedious task of adding all the rigging is under way.
This week the final touches were added to the ship and it is being cleaned.
The directionals are next.
The directionals are being completely custom made from heavy gauge brass material.
