Customer supplied photo of an antique weathervane and the proposed design.
The design is transferred to copper sheet then each piece is hand cut from it.
Most of the detail lines are tapped into the copper through the ‘chasing’ method. This requires skill to make the line depth consistent and smooth.
The design is puffed out from behind to give the piece body using the ancient technique of ‘repousse’.
Lady Liberty is starting to take shape after of hours of tapping against the copper.
The two halves are roughed out and ready for fine detailing.
The parts are soldered together.
