In 2006, this Indian Weathervane figure set a record for the highest price ever paid for a weathervane when it sold at Sotheby’s auction for 5.8 million dollars to Jerry Lauren, Brother to Ralph Lauren of the Polo fashion empire.
The 4-foot-high molded copper weathervane was made by The J.L. Mott Iron Works Company of New York & Chicago in about 1890 for about $75.
