The detail for the sides of the body are transferred to 100% copper sheet. The rough shape is cut out with shears then the exact piece is cut out by hand.
All the detail lines and contours are tapped into the copper from the outside-in for each piece.
A variety of forms and pads is used to beat against to create the desired shape.

Dragonfly legs!
To give the Dragonfly wings a silvery accent, they were laser cut from stainless steel.
The assembled dragonfly received a bronze finish, then appropriate areas were primed and gold leafed with 23 karat gold.
