This is the image I chose to base the weathervane on – D. Ferro
A rough mock-up was made first to determine the best size, shape, and texture for the three dimensional sculptures.
Each piece is done organically. It is designed, made, sometimes remade, then agreed on before moving to the next piece.
We are more than happy with the texture and body but the face and eyes aren’t right.
The small feathers about the head and shoulders looks great.
The baby owl proceeds much quicker now that we have a solid vision.
The shape, size, and texture of the wings has to be just right or the whole sculpture will be wrong.
Mamma Owl with her striking new face and wings.
The aesthetics of the branch must be just right also. Too simple or too much and it could take away from the owls.
The owls and branch are done and starting to come alive. Now to add some laves to the branch.
Some bronze and verdigris finishes really help to wake it up.
Everything is just right. There be life here!
A masterful work.
“The weathervane is magnificent! The detail is amazing. Everyone who has seen it thus far is very impressed. Rest assured that we love it and stand in awe of your wonderful creativity.” – M. Rawson
