Animal Weathervanes glittered the American rural skyline in the late nineteenth century. Most every copper weathervane manufactured in that period was gold leafed. Affluent farmers purchased what was important to them. Their prized livestock and favorite animals to hunt were what they spent their hard earned money on and they crowned the quintessential barns that dotted the landscape. In today’s small world, animals of every possible species have a fan somewhere and keep weathervane sculptors busy with fun and challenging requests.
Choose from one of these individually hand crafted, copper weathervanes or have a custom one created for you.
Each hand sculpted weathervane comes with your choice of finish and is signed & dated by the artist.

Jane Chambless Wright –
Our wonderful Bat Weathervane flew over our home in the Hudson Valley, and came with us when we moved to northwestern Ireland. It’s become a local landmark, as it now flies high above the historic old stone schoolhouse where we live. ( Last summer there was a village “treasure hunt”, which involves everyone scrambling to follow a cryptic map of clues, and moving on to the next site. Suddenly about 35 cars pulled off the road and folks piled out to stare up at our bat, take photos, and run away.)
I can’t imagine living in our home without the crowning ornament – I cannot recommend David Ferro and his craftsmen highly enough!
