Creating an Excavator Weathervane at 36″ long for the Marshalls.

The excavator was preplanned and templates made. Each part is hand cut from 100% Revere sheet copper.

Pre-assembling the components of the excavators.

Bringing the various components together as the excavator starts to take shape.

Adding the bucket, pistons, arrow, and final details.

Once the copperwork is complete the figure is detailed. A special cleanser neutralizes the flux and cleans the copper, then a diluted sulfur solution is used to darken the copper to a rich bronze patina.
