Our American Rooster on 36″ Arrow

Years ago, I was lucky to come across an original mold set from the mid 1800s. This is an image of the molds along with a rooster that was produced from it about 1860. I am proud to continue to produce this piece of Americana. The only update is that I use my own arrow design.

Blanks are cut from 100% 16oz. Revere copper then clamped to the mold. The copper is stretched into the mold by pounding it down with special mallets.

Each part is carefully hammered into the mold to faithfully reproduce the detail.

The body and tail parts fresh from the molds.

The legs are next!

Soldering the two halves of the body together.

Assembling the Rooster figure.

Waiting its turn to be sanded and washed.

-Artist Bio-

Jon is one of the world’s up and coming weathervane sculptors. His pieces are solid, beautiful examples of a traditional trade. His work often goes home with him as chasing has become a hobby for him. Jon usually handles the larger and more complex pieces.
