Canton Weathervane
High on the cupola looking down
On the roofs and streets of Canton Town,
Heading into the winds it loves so well,
Their vagaries for all to tell,
Rides a symbol men hold dear,
A weathervane of Paul Revere!
O’er foundry site just down the hill
by the vanishing brook that runs there still,
Above the village traffic round,
and bank his descendents helped to found,
rides the figure bold and clear,
A weathervane of Paul Revere!
Many people as they come and go,
look up at it from down below,
and feel within, a sense of pride,
as they recall his famous ride
and cherish freedom free from fear,
The weathervane of Paul Revere!
